Central Bohemia Region Full of Easter Spirit

Experience the celebrations of Spring just outside Prague and get tuned-in to the Easter holidays. Central Bohemia draws visitors to Easter guided tours of castles and châteaux, Easter-themed exhibitions, fine dining, and the awakening of nature.

EASTER IN CENTRAL BOHEMIAN OPEN-AIR LIVING HISTORY MUSEUMS

From the end of March, our open-air museums offer their Easter programmes. You can enjoy demonstrations of traditional customs and handiwork connected with the vernal period and the celebration of Easter. Try your hand at weaving the “pomlázka” rejuvenation willow-wand, bake some “jidáš” Czech hot-cross-buns (named after Judas) decorate gingerbread cookies, colour some Easter eggs, or try a bit of woodcarving.

EASTER IN PALACES AND CITIES

Easter is also coming to Central Bohemian cities. Immerse yourself in the enchantment of Central Bohemia’s châteaux and the Spring season programmes they have laid on. There are special Easter tours at Žleby and Loučeň. There will also be “řehtačka” (cog-rattle/ratchet) parades, demonstrations of traditional handicrafts and tastings of Easter treats.

You can also get into the mood of the approaching Spring holidays at the Kladno Museum exhibit of over a hundred Easter postcards.

Easter is the most important Christian holiday. Churches host their spiritual programme, but also Easter concerts. An unforgettable atmosphere awaits you in the Basilica of the Assumption of Our Lady of Holy Mountain in Příbram, where a gala concert will bring the organ pipes to a crescendo.
